Priorities

The Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library is the reference library for anyone interested in finding out more about Antwerp, Dutch literature or the Flemish cultural heritage.

The collection focuses on Antwerp publications and works by Antwerp authors, Dutch literature in the overall context of world literature and the (cultural) history of the Netherlands, with an emphasis on Flanders and the Flemish movement. It also boasts several thematic subcollections, such as broadside music, an impressive collection of newspapers and periodicals, children’s books and schoolbooks, book history, clandestine press during the war and various collections that were donated to the library by authors, artists or organisations.

Antwerp

The Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library collects all publications about the city of Antwerp and its history.

Dutch literature

From literary debut to collected edition: the works of Flemish and Dutch authors past and present are brought together here.

Cultural and general history

The Heritage Library collects publications on general history and on the history of art and culture in Flanders and the Low Countries.
